Tumaini Community Trust began in 2011 with three volunteers and a borrowed classroom in Kibera. Today it runs two primary schools, a feeding programme and a savings network for 400 women.

"The MA taught me that development is not something you do to a community," says Grace Wanjiru '09. "You listen first. Then you build with people, not for them."

Grace is one of the alumni mentors on this site and leads the Africa regional group. Find her in the alumni directory.
